Yes I know they are talking about the hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) but I have to tell you, anytime I hear folks mention CBD I smile. For as long as I can remember, most people have either called me by my full name, Carol Ben-Davies, or they call me CBD. My friends definitely call me CBD and know I love my initials! I wanted to start a book club once and had the perfect name picked out, Casual Book Discussions. If we had to do one of those cheesy get to know you icebreakers, I could find a way to let you know more about me by using my initials. Name three things that are important to you? Christ, my Babies (Ken, Kennedy and Kristen) and making a Difference.
When I told my family and friends that I was starting a business called College Bound Determination, LLC their immediate response is, I like what you did there! College Bound Determination is a higher education consulting firm helping overwhelmed and confused parents of college-bound students navigate the college journey for long-term success in college and beyond. Most educational consulting businesses focus solely on helping students get into college. Despite the frenzy and stress over the college admissions process, I know that getting into college is only the beginning and actually the easy part. How do you staying in college and graduate are not often discussed.
Since the day after I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1998 I have been working on a college campus. After studying and working at Carolina, I left to pursue my master’s at Loyola University Chicago and while there worked at Northwestern University.
