Avoid a Nightmare at Your Dream College

Avoid a Nightmare at Your Dream College

I’ve been working in a university setting for 20 years, helping college students comes to me with great ease. I can anticipate what issues students will experience based on what month it is in the academic year. But ask me to navigate these potty training and infant and toddler years? Err…. not so much! I’m constantly stressed wondering if I’m doing it right. Dr. Google with all his information only makes it worse as I go deeper and deeper down rabbit holes of whatever issue I’m trying to learn more about. I’m not trying to rush the years along, but it looks like by the time my girls get to college I’ll be in my jam!!!

Becoming a mother has birthed in me a strong desire to help parents and students outside the university where I work. I feel blessed to thoroughly love my job and to have found my calling working with college students.
After finding that hosting workshops and one on one consultations limited me to certain geographic areas, I created an online coaching experience for rising high school seniors and rising college freshman. This course will ensure that your children don’t have a nightmare experience as they plan to attend their dream college.

D.R.E.A.M College Jump Start is my 5 step coaching program helping students focus on other areas of college preparation besides the test scores, essays, and transcripts that dominate the college admissions frenzy.

Step One-Discover and Develop

We will discover and develop your talents and strength by taking CliftonStrengths for Students, an online assessment that takes 30 minutes to complete.  As a Gallup Certified CliftonStrengths Coach, I will use this strengths-based development tool to help you feel more empowered, more engaged and more likely to thrive when they arrive on their campus. The confidence and clarity gained will allow you to achieve your academic and career goals.

Step Two-Respect and Responsibility

We will discuss the importance of respect and responsibility for oneself and others and touch on topics of self-respect, by-stander intervention, diversity and inclusion, sexual assault awareness and alcohol and other drug awareness.

Step Three- Expectations

We will develop a strategic plan for what to expect during each month of the academic year and ways to overcome common monthly stressors that too often impede student success.

Step Four- Academics and Academic Integrity
We will review learning strategies imperative for academic success in college and also discuss the importance of academic integrity and ways to avoid plagiarism on assignments.

Step Five- Mindset
We will learn about and practice the importance of a growth mindset,  mindfulness and the benefits to your well-being.
